Newly selected Albert Lea City Manager Jim Norman began his first part-time day at City Hall on Monday and also attended the Albert Lea City Council meeting that night.

Norman, interim Afton city manager, will gradually work up to working full time in the position May 3.

Prior to his position in Afton, Norman has been the city-manager equivalent in Ramsey, Montevideo and Renville, and county coordinator in Dodge County.

He fills a position vacated by former City Manager Victoria Simonsen, who announced in December she had accepted a job as town manager in Lyons, Colo.
