Norman Hunter

Memorial Services for Norman “Norm” Hunter, a 50-year resident of Ellendale, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday at the United Methodist Church in Ellendale. The Rev. Gary Liker will officiate. Friends may visit with family from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Ellendale, and one hour before the service at the church. Graveside Interment Services will be at 2 p.m. on April 25, in Trempealeau Public Cemetery in Trempealeau, Wis. The Rev. Mike Hibbs will officiate.
Norman was born on Nov. 16, 1927, the son of Norman and Florence (Fitzwater) Hunter in Tampa, Fla.
He had served the country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Norm married Iris Grover on July 30, 1949, in Winona. Norm had been a sixth-grade teacher in Ellendale for many years. He later worked as a detailer at Streaters Inc., in Albert Lea, until his retirement in 1990.
He enjoyed curling, hunting, golfing, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Norm passed away on April 9, 2010, at his winter residence in Bullhead City, Ariz., following an extended illness.
He is survived by his wife, Iris; his children Ellen (Kevin) Jordan of Winchendon, Mass., Scott Hunter of Ellendale, and Bruce (Betty) Hunter of Des Moines, Iowa; his brother Llaird (Theresa) Hunter of Trempealeau, Wis.; and two stepsisters Irene Ryder and Mary Ann Sacia.
Norm was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, one step-sister and one step-brother. Memorial contributions suggested to the National Kidney Foundation.
