Roger Jurs, 75

The funeral service for Roger Herman Jurs of Albert Lea will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea. The Rev. Rolf Wangberg will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service. Memorials are preferred to Crossroads Community Hospice.
Roger died Saturday, April 10, 2010, at his home. He was 75 years old.
Roger was born Feb. 14, 1935, in Ceylon, to Herman and Irene (Stussi) Jurs. He is a former resident of Des Moines, Iowa, Fort Dodge, Iowa. and Albert Lea since 1966.
Roger graduated from Ceylon High School, Barber School in Des Moines, Iowa, and Vocational school to become a electrician. Roger married Betty Immings in 1962 and divorced in 1981. He married Fran Bledsoe on April 9, 1983. Roger was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and worked for Miami Margarine for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and camping at his cabin on Lake Frances. His dog Ruby was very special to him. Roger’s family was very important to him and he enjoyed being with them the most.
Roger is survived by his wife, Fran Jurs, of Albert Lea; daughter, Teresa Strand, and her husband, Brian, of Eagle Lake and their children: Brittany and Madison Strand; son, Ed Bledsoe, and his wife, Brenda, and their children: Alex of Albert Lea and Laura of Lexington, Mo., Lindsey Fields and her husband, Randy, and their children: McKenzie of Albert Lea; daughter, Cynthia Rae Bledsoe, of Albert Lea; brother, Al Jurs, and his wife Carol of Iowa City, Iowa; sister-in-law, Carol Jurs of Welcome.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Irene Jurs; and brother, Larry Jurs.
