Winona swept the Albert Lea softball team in a doubleheader Thursday in Winona.

The Winhawks won the first game 5-1 and the second game 7-3 in a pair of games where the Tigers couldn’t find timely hits.

Albert Lea fell behind 5-0 in the first game, but started a rally in the seventh. The Tigers pushed a run across, but left the bases loaded to end the game.

In the second game Albert Lea held a 3-2 lead, but lost it in the bottom of the fifth when Winona scored five runs.

“We did not move the ball around and we did not take advantage of key situations,” said Tigers head coach Dan Harms.

Albert Lea struck out 11 times in the second game.

Kristine Kelly went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in the second game and Caylee Tennis went 2-for-3.
