Charlotte Fjelbroten, 92

The funeral service for Charlotte L. Fjelbroten of Albert Lea will be 11 a.m. Thursday at East Freeborn Lutheran Church, rural Albert Lea. The Rev. Matthew Grieggs will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before the service at the church.
Charlotte died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 92 years old.
Charlotte was born May 13, 1918, in Riceland Township, Freeborn County, to Johnny and Johanna (Gilbertson) Prestagard. She has been a lifetime Freeborn County resident and attended Bell School District 27, Freeborn County. Charlotte was a member of East Freeborn Lutheran Church and was active in the various ladies groups and circles and also served on the Altar Guild. She also belonged to the church sewing and quilting circle. She married Walter Fjelbroten on Dec. 18, 1937, at Northwood, Iowa. She worked on the farm with her husband when needed. Charlotte enjoyed quilting, was very proud of growing flowers, gardening and baking.
Charlotte is survived by her two children: son, Robert (Patricia) Fjelbroten of Albert Lea, daughter, Sandra (Richard) Traynor of Rice Lake, Wis.; grandchildren: Joanie (Jerry) Weitzel, Ernie (Carol) Schultz, Kim (Mike) Belshan, Tammy Schneider, Sherie Stender, Johnny Fjelbroten, Rob (Khris) Fjelbroten, Jeff Nielsen, Jody (Will) Warlick, Jaynee Nielsen and Tammy (Kevin) Palmer; 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents: Johnny and Johanna Prestagard; husband: Walter on June 4, 2007; grandchildren: David and Michael Traynor; great-grandson Makaio Radke.
