City seems to lack a clear sign policy

Your editorial may be true about city-issued sign permits, but not true about enforcement. I own a building in Albert Lea and was required to move a sign that had stood in place for over 60 years. Why? Because of “change of occupancy” and someone complained. I have since seen many (eight on my list) that meet the same test used to require me to move my sign. They extend over the sidewalk. It is probably for safety reasons, some 8-foot-4-inch pedestrian might walk by and hit their head. I don’t blame city employees, it’s just the way the city seems to operate.
