Morning and afternoon showers made racers and fans wonder for a while if racing would take place at the Chateau Raceway this week. The rain was light and ended early enough to allow Wissota Amsoil Dirt Track Series action to move forward.

A season-high 99-race cars filled the pits on Rent-N-Save and French’s Repair & Fabrication night at the speedway. Before the evening started, kids in attendance had the chance to ride in stock cars as many drivers came trackside to give the kids a thrill.

The Misgen Auto Parts Pure Stocks had a thrilling 15-lap feature with an exciting finish. Sammie Fromm led from the get-go as a couple of cautions early on kept the pack held tight.

Fromm led the guys around the speedway as last week’s winner Dylan Nelson challenged. Brady Krohnberg got to third on lap six as Nelson went low on Fromm. Nelson spun to the infield on lap seven and lost a couple of spots.

Adam Godeke was on the charge and was up to third and then challenged Krohnberg for second. Godeke stole the spot on lap eight and quickly closed on Fromm. A yellow on lap nine for a stalled Nelson slowed the field once again.

Fromm was searching for her first victory, but Godeke was not going to make it easy as the race up front was excellent. Nelson restarted at the tail but was quickly slicing his way back through traffic. Nelson got to third late in the race and the top three were close.

Fromm led the field to the white flag as Nelson slipped by Godeke for second. Nelson powered up the inside as Fromm slipped up the track slightly in turn four. The checkered flag was waving and Nelson edged Fromm back to the line to win his second in a row and the clean sweep. Godeke finished third with Krohnberg and Dustin Sletten in the top five.

Mike Blowers led lap one in the RS Auto Rebuilders Wissota Street Stock feature. Dan Holland quickly took over on lap two taking away the top spot. A.J. Zvorak zoomed from row four and was third on lap three.

Tyler Peterson slipped by Bobby Kilby for fourth as they had a good race going on. Peterson and Kilby spun in turn two on lap seven bringing out the caution and Peterson limped to the pits.

When the action resumed, Blowers again drove alongside Holland with Zvorak right there with them on lap nine. Zvorak got to second and Kilby also got by Blowers for third. Zvorak then got alongside Holland for the lead, but a yellow flew on lap thirteen.

Zvorak made quick work of Holland on the restart and was the new leader on lap 13. Then Holland got turned around in turn one with Kilby and Matt Eustice also involved. Holland was restored to second on the restart.

Zvorak cruised through the remaining two laps to win his third of the year and second consecutive and another clean sweep. Holland finished second with Blowers third. Eustice wound up fourth and Tony Shaner was fifth.

The Farm Boy BBQ Wissota Midwest Modifieds saw Beau Lammers lead until lap two when Travis Wytaske made the pass. Mike Paulson took second at that time and Brandon Davis was third.

Davis drove past Paulson for second on lap four and took off after Wytaske. Davis dove low in turn four on the fourth circuit and then it was side by side for the lead. Davis nabbed the top spot the next lap and took off into the night.

Davis picked up his second victory at Chateau and got out the broom for another clean sweep for the night. Paulson had a fine run in second with Greg Pfeifer Jr. finishing third after a great battle with Jason Born and Wytaske who finished fourth and fifth.

Twelve combatants took the green flag for the 20-lap main event of the Power 96FM/KQAQ 970am IMCA Stock Cars field. Right off the bat, they were three wide for the lead as Chris Adams wrestled the lead away on lap one.

Adams was cruising with a half straightaway led on lap nine, but this was not over by a long shot. Behind him a super race developed for second as Merlyn Hegland and Dan Mackenthun went back and forth. Then Rick Mees entered the picture to make it a three-car show.

Adams had a hard time getting by some of the lapped traffic that allowed that race for second to now challenge for the lead. Mees got to second and gave Adams a big challenge with a couple of laps left.

Adams held on for his second consecutive victory and again won his heat race for the sweep. Mees was second with Mackenthun third. Hegland ran in the fourth position and Matt Speckman finished out the top five.

Twenty-two drivers answered the bell for the 25-lap French’s Repair & Fabrication USRA Modified feature. Tommy Myer bolted off of row one and took off from the field. Jason Cummins slipped by Mike Steensma for second on lap five and tried to reel in Myer.

Myer checked out, but got into lapped traffic on lap nine which eventually allowed Cummins to close the gap. Cummins was right with Myer on lap fourteen, but them Myer blew by a couple of lapped cars and extended his lead.

Cummins again pulled closer to Myer on laps 16 and 17 as the leaders were slicing through the back of the field. On lap 19 the caution flew as Dave Wytaske Jr. stalled. After 19 laps of continuous green flag racing, this race had issues getting its rhythm back.

On the restart, things got tight and jammed up as the leaders went through turns one and two. Steensma hopped wheels with another car and ended up going over the top of Myer’s car. The impact sent Myer sideways and stalled bringing out the yellow. Officials ruled Myer to be at fault and Myer was placed to the tail.

Cummins moved to the lead as things got going once again. Steensma stalled in turn four bringing out the yellow. Then on the next start, Steve Wetzstein broke in turn four sending him down the track collecting Ben Mattick and Dustin Steinbrink for another caution period.

From there, Cummins cruised for his first victory at Lansing this year. Kelly Shryock finished second, with Todd Scharkey third. Jacob Dahle rode home fourth with Josh Mattick in the top five at the checkered flag.

In the S&S Auto Salvage Junior Hornets, Cole Lonergan won his second feature of the season in his Ford Pinto. Jason McShane scored his first victory of the season in the Hornet class over Terry Blowers.
