Edward Madson, 89

The funeral service for Edward L. Madson will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St., Albert Lea.
The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by Albert Lea veterans organizations.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before the service.
Edward died on Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at the VA Medical Center in Minneapolis. He was 89.
He was born on March 21, 1921, in Albert Lea, the son of Ole and Bertha (Dahlen) Madson.
He attended Albert Lea schools and then served our country in the U.S. Army from July of 1942 until his honorable discharge in October of 1945.
He was united in marriage to Kathleen Sorenson on Sept. 19, 1942.
He was employed by Wilson & Co./Farmland Foods for more than 42 years before retiring. Following his retirement, Edward had worked part time at Pamida and later as a caretaker for the condos on Johnson Street.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the American Legion, the Eagles and the Moose clubs.
He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, trips to Mystic Lake and especially his morning coffee with the “Donut Hut Club.”
He is survived by two sons: Barry Madson and his wife Jackie of Eden Prairie, and Ricky Madson and his wife Debra of Albert Lea; daughter-in-law Denise (Deedee) Madson of White Bear Lake; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Kathleen; son, Allan; two brothers; and two sisters.
