Evangeline Jacobsen, 89

Funeral services for Evangeline J. Jacobsen, 89, of Alden will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden. The Rev. Gregory Ofsdahl will officiate. Interment will be in Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Evangeline died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at the Good Samaritan Center.
Evangeline J. Jacobsen was born on Aug. 2, 1920, to Fred and Elsie (Kluender) Schumaker in Dunbar Township of Faribault County. She attended country schools in Faribault County and worked on the family farm. On June 2, 1938, she married Jesse Jacobsen at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Danville Township. The couple moved to Spring Valley, where they farmed, and then to Austin for a short time. The couple moved to Albert Lea and then to Alden. She worked at Land O’Lakes for nine years. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Alden, the 500 club and Senior Citizens of Alden. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, gardening, canning, baking, playing 500, attending dances with her husband and being a homemaker.
Survivors include her children: Duaine Jacobsen of Albert Lea, DeAnna and Bill Eckart of East Bethel, Dennis and Susan Jacobsen of Alden and Debbie Jacobsen of Albert Lea; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters: Delilah Tesch of Albert Lea and Betty Gabrielson of Austin; daughters-in-law, Donna Jacobsen and Stephanie and husband Louie Larson; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Evangeline was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse; sons: Darrel and David; grandsons: James W. Eckart, Timothy Jacobsen and Bryan Wittmer (friend of Debbie).
