Marjorie Carlsgaard, 81

Funeral services for Marjorie Carlsgaard, age 81, of Rockwell, Iowa, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. The Rev. Ron Meyer and the Rev. Joel Dahlen will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marjorie died Friday, May 7, 2010, at Rockwell Community Nursing Home.
Marjorie Lorraine Carlsgaard was born Feb. 27, 1929, at Albert Lea, the daughter of Eddie and Netta (Madson) Chrs. She attended District 116 country school and graduated in 1947. She was united in marriage to Merlin Carlsgaard on June 17, 1948, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle. To this union six children were born. Marjorie lived in the Myrtle area her entire life until she moved to Rockwell in 2006. It was hard for her to leave the friends she had here. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mary Circle, Moose Lodge 1364, Mothers Clubs, Senior Citizens of Hayward, Senior Citizens of Rockwell, Women’s Club and St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Rockwell. Marjorie enjoyed helping with farm work and she had a large garden she was very proud of. In her later years she planted more flowers. She drove school bus for Glenville-Emmons school district for 20 years. Marjorie enjoyed traveling, visiting her friends and especially spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, Merlin; children: Mary Ellen (Bill) Nelson, Merle (Linda) Carlsgaard, Marcia (Craig) Rayman, Marla Kaye (Jim) Johnson, Mark Carlsgaard and Martie (Cyndi) Carlsgaard; grandchildren, Chris Nelson, Craig Nelson, Derrill Lynn (Josh) Carlsgaard, Alyson (Jeff), Alisa (Todd) and Dustin Rayman, Michael (Jessica) Johnson and Derek (Tessa) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Nicholas, Madelynn and Ben Nelson and Darin Nelson; sisters, Nancy (Roger) Anderson, Betty Ann (Dick) Brooks and Beverly Farr; brother, Edward (Mary) Chrs; sister-in-law, Eleanor Carlsgaard; many nieces and nephews; and special pets, Lucky and Sandy.
Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers-in-law, Arlen and Gerald Carlsgaard and Amos Farr.
