Pearl Traufler, 83

Funeral services for Pearl Pauline Traufler of Blue Earth, formerly of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 11, at Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. Andrea Myers and the Rev. Karl Rydholm will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery, Albert Lea.
Pearl died Thursday, May 6, 2010, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth. She was 83 years of age.
Pearl was born Nov. 16, 1926, in New Richland, the daughter of George and Pauline (Anderson) Wildman. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in New Richland and attended public school in New Richland.
She was united in marriage to Vernon R. Nelson, who preceded her in death. She was later married to Earl Traufler, who also preceded her in death.
Pearl worked along side her husband Vern at Vern’s Plumbing and Heating in Albert Lea and helped manage the Alice Hotel for many years. She also worked at the state hospital in Hastings and St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea.
Pearl enjoyed baking, knitting, crocheting (loved fishing!), and traveling to visit with her family.
Pearl is survived by her children: Gene and his wife Maureen Nelson, Dennis Nelson, Cliff and his wife Kathy Michaelis, and Diane and her husband Mike Calderon; one daughter-in-law, Judy Nelson; 14 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Vernon and Earl; daughter; Karen Lee Nelson; son Gary V. Nelson; seven half brothers: Chester, Arthur, Earl, Kenneth, Lloyd, Vernon and Donald Michaelis; and two half sisters, Ruby and Opal.
