We are all trying to cut our expenses, times are tough. So, let’s start from the top down.

We need to cut the size of our Minnesota Legislature. To make this change, we, the people, should petition the Legislature to put this on the ballot in the next election in November.

Why do we have the largest governing body the United States? We are no longer in the horse-and-buggy days.

California, New York and Texas have smaller legislatures than we do.

As an example, California has a population of 33.9 million by the last census.

Their Senate has 40 members and the House of Representatives 80. Minnesota has a population of 5.2 million with 67 senators and 134 representatives, plus staff.

Are we top heavy?

Better yet, why not have a unicameral legislature like Nebraska?

Every two years half would be up for reelection.

Another thing, why do we need a lieutenant governor? Arizona has not had a lieutenant governor for some time.

We need you to talk it up with one another, whether you are Democrat, Republican or independent. Our county and city governments are trying. Why can’t the state do the same?
