The Low Bucks Car Club announces that the 17th Eddie Cochran print by artist Eloise Adams will be available at the following Eddie Cochran Weekend events.

Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the cruise-in social at the Country Inn & Suites.

Saturday at the Low Bucks Car Show & Swap Meet at the fairgrounds.

Saturday night at the street dance featuring L.D. Cruiser & the Tones in the North Broadway Avenue parking lot.

The prints are numbered and hand-signed. A limited number of the prints are hand-painted.

The proceeds from print sales help fund the Eddie Cochran scholarships given to music and fine arts students.

“It is a privilege to work with the Low Bucks Car Club to help raise money for scholarships and help preserve the memory of Eddie Cochran and our community’s history,” Adams said.

The 2010 print features Eddie Cochran in the recording studio with the lyrics to Eddie’s song, “Teresa.”

In the center is the Hotel Albert, which was located at 337 S. Broadway Ave. It was built it 1900 and for 66 years was a premiere hotel. At one time, it had 200 rooms. The last guest checked out on Aug. 28, 1966. That same year, the hotel was sold to Lea College. U.S. Bank is now located at the site. Pictured are Don and his father, Carl Jacobson, who owned the hotel.

At the upper right, a KATE Radio announcer interviews Elizabeth Taylor and her new husband, Nicky Hilton, when they stayed at the hotel in 1950.

Also shown is the Red Top Diner, located on West Main Street behind Wallace’s (at the corner of Broadway and Main). The diner was started in 1946 by Bob and Hazel Hoverson. The restaurant was made from a railroad dining car. It was damaged by fire in the early 1960s and moved away.

Below the hotel is the Countryside Inn Motel. It was one of the first motels, opening in 1977 at 2102 E, Main St. The first owners were Carl and Dorothy Sparke. The property had a miniature golf course and was the original bus stop.

Also shown are Albert Lea’s own L.D. Cruiser & the Tones, who have been playing together since 2000. This band will play at the Saturday night street dance.

The Albert Lea Family Y logo and Dennis Dieser are also featured in order to recognize the 96 years the Family Y has been serving the community.

At lower right is the logo for the Low Bucks Car Club’s 24th annual car show and swap meet.

Eddie Cochran always signed his autographs “Don’t forget me — Eddie Cochran.” Whether he was referring to his own mortality or the ups and downs of the music industry is up for speculation.
