A group of some 40 high school singers who make up the 2010 Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The concert is free and open to the public.

Chosen from applicants from all over the state, these young people have been rehearsing at Mount Carmel Ministries Camp near Alexandria prior to their tour.

The Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir program, celebrating its 41st year, exists to provide an aesthetic experience via choral music and to impart to local congregations enthusiasm and appreciation for music, new and old, in the worship service. The choir will be performing a variety of music from the classics to gospel.

The choir is under the direction of Thomas D. Rossin. Now in his 20th year with the Minnesota All-State Lutheran Choir, he is the founder and director of “Exultate,” a choir and orchestra based in the Twin Cities.

Unique to his concert is audience participation. Each concert is concluded with the choir seated within the audience and everyone taking part in the singing of hymns.
