The rainforest will temporarily relocate to Morin Park in Albert Lea on Saturday, for Bixby’s Rainforest Event. Through a variety of stage shows and live animal encounters, children discover the importance of conservation, preservation and going green. Families will be treated to magic, singing, live animals and an obstacle course of rainforest-themed inflatable structures.

In Bixby’s Rainforest Encounters, visitors will have the opportunity to experience up to 20 different species including sloths, lemurs and frogs. This unique exhibit gives families an opportunity to see and learn about animals from across the globe, without leaving the park.

Children of all ages can travel through the rainforest on Bixby’s Inflatable Rainforest, an obstacle course made up of inflatable, rainforest-themed interactive slides, bounce houses, mazes and games. Bixby’s Rainforest Rescue stage show thrills audiences of all ages with magic, singing and an educational message.

“It is our primary focus to bring to life the story of the ongoing destruction and deforestation of the rainforest, said Creative Producer and Director Barry DeVoll, President of The Blue Trunk Educational Series Inc. “Many people aren’t aware that we lose almost 46 million acres a year. Our goal is to merge education and entertainment.”

The creative vision to bring the rainforest to life comes from Assistant Production Designer David Starr, the former set and prop designer for David Copperfield, Shania Twain, Donna Summer, and Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

Bixby’s Inflatable Rainforest and Bixby’s Rainforest Encounters are open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday. Bixby’s Rainforest Rescue stage shows will be performed at noon, 2 p.m., 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Free children’s tickets are available throughout the community and up to two children will be admitted free with one paid adult admission. Ride tickets and wristbands are additional.
