Kiester Days packs in four full days of fun

Kiester’s annual celebration of community, Kiester Days, will be held today through Sunday.

It all begins with a celebration picnic from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Kiester Town & Country Centre today. The meal is sponsored by the Farmers Co-op Elevator. Donations will be accepted for the USC Marching Rebels. Then at 7:30 p.m., Stephanie Erdman will present her “Ladies of Country” show at the Kee Theatre.

Friday’s events include cow chip bingo at the south end of Main Street beginning at 5 p.m. The Lions Club will hold a steak fry from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Club.

Friday is also the day for the Kiester Days car show. It will start at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Brian Abele at 641-540-0655.

Saturday’s events include a softball tournament at the Kiester athletic field at 9 a.m. Contact Ryan James at 507-383-0351 for more information. A co-ed volleyball tournament also starts at 9 a.m. Contact Tonya Prouty at 507-294-9928 for information. A craft sale at the former school starts at 9 a.m.

The Kiester Days parade starts at 11 a.m. Roger Barber is the parade chairman.

After the parade, the Kee Women will serve lunch in the park. The USC Fine Arts Boosters will sell walking tacos.

Also on Saturday, there will be a cribbage tournament from 1 to 3 p.m. and the Penny family will perform at 2 p.m. at the Kee Theatre. The Kiester Legion will hold a steak fry from 5 to 7 p.m. The Kiester Legion will hold a steak fry from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Sunday’s events include a 9 a.m. community church service in the park. People should bring their own chairs. An omelet breakfast will be held at the former school from 7 a.m. to noon.

At 1 p.m., bed races and more, sponsored by Forever Berma’s, will be held at the south end of Main Street.
