Lake Mills scored 15 runs on 13 hits capped by a Josh Zabel grand slam to end the game in the sixth inning, running their record to 7-2.

Zabel finished 3-for-4 with 5 RBIs and Levi Dahle added 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored in a 3-for-4 perfomance as the Bulldogs took advantage of walks and hitter’s counts.

“We were patient and able to sit on fastballs,” head coach Jason Blaser said. “We could drive the ball up the center or to the gap because we were waiting on pitches and not trying to chase.”

Drey LyBarger pitched four innings giving up two earned runs on one hit. Lake Mills did a good job of not giving up hits but had control issues throughout the game.

“I was disappointed we couldn’t show more control — make them put the ball in play,” Blaser said. “All four runners that scored got on base with walks.”

The Bulldogs kept B-K out of the game, though, by the balanced hitting that has continued all season.

“Again, we were pretty balanced on offense,” Blaser said. “When our one through nine batters are all threats, offensively, that puts a lot of pressure on opposing pitchers.”

Lake Mills is back in action tonight at Armstrong-Ringsted.
