Ninth-grader Megan Pulley was the only Tiger golfer at Cannon Golf Course Thursday as she made a run at the state tournament.

She finished two spots and seven strokes back of a state tourney berth, but impressed her coach and offered a glance at her potential.

After shooting a 91 on Tuesday, Pulley shot a 92 on day two and had chances to shoot even lower.

“She had six birdie puts on the back nine,” head coach Shawn Riebe said. “She struggled a bit on the greens but they played fast with hard pin positions.”

She struck the ball well and shot low scores without having much familiarity with the course.

“This was a great experience for her,” head coach Shawn Riebe said. “She has three years to come back and make it happen.”
