Virginia Young, 73

Virginia M. “Ginny” Young, 73, of Glenville, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at her home.
She was born March 16, 1937, in Owatonna, the daughter of Albert and Golda (Ebeling) Arndt. Virginia was raised in West Concord and graduated in 1955 from West Concord High School. She then attended Mankato State Teachers College graduating with a bachelor of science degree in business education, music and English. She student taught her first year at Blooming Prairie High School and then taught for 34 years at Glenville and Glenville-Emmons High School, retiring in 1993. She was a faithful Trojan and later a Wolverine when Glenville and Emmons consolidated. Ginny was a member of MEA, AAUW and the Minnesota Retired Teachers Association. She enjoyed getting visits from her students through the years. She loved her pet collies, dobermans and cats and enjoyed raising her pet rabbits. She also loved nature, feeding the squirrels, doves, wild rabbits, and blue jays. She also liked to take trips with the senior center traveling across the states.
She is survived by her children: Lana Young of Owatonna, Alan Young of Glenville, and Sonya (John) Fitak of Milwaukee; and two grandchildren: Ian and Nora Fitak.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Michaelson Funeral Home, 1930 Austin Road, Owatonna, with the Rev. Debora Miller officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
