Funeral services for Arlene Yost, 92, of Emmons will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Emmons Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gary Hanson will officiate. Interment will be in the Bear Lake Cemetery. Arlene Borghild Yost was born on Nov. 16, 1917, in Iowa, the daughter of Jeffrey and Thressa (Hested) Martinson. She grew up in the Emmons and Scarville area where she attended school. On June 11, 1939, Arlene was united in marriage to Ellsworth M. Yost at the Scarville Synod Lutheran Church. Arlene was retired from the Speltz Elevator where she worked as a bookkeeper. Prior to that, she worked at the Farmer’s Store in Emmons for many years. She was a member of the Bear Lake Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aide, circle, the Emmons Civic Improvement Club, the Band Boosters and the Senior Citizens. She volunteered as a Sunday school teacher and a 4-H leader. Arlene enjoyed quilting, embroidering, reading, bowling, doing crossword puzzles and watching TV.
Survivors include her son, Gary (Carolyn) Yost of Ocseola, Wis., and their children: Chad (Shelly) Yost, Chet Yost, Cory (Jen) Yost, Cody (Cindy) Yost, Cade (Jenny) Yost, Brad (Cheryl) Fox, Brian (Marnie) Fox, Tami (Ty) Linden, Brent (Cindy) Fox, and Barry (Rachel) Fox; son, Dale (Phyllis) Yost of Emmons, and their children: Brian (Nicole) Yost, Christopher Yost and his fiancée Dixie Weckwerth, Doug (Heather) Yost, Stephanie Yost, and Delilah McCullough; son, Paul (Debbie) Yost of Emmons and their children: Brenda (Brian) Fjeld, Jeff (Dawn) Yost, and Richard (Amber) Yost; daughter, Marilyn (Dwight) Ahnemann of Eau Claire, Wis., and their children: Audra (Doug) Forrest, Tyler (Aimee) Ahnemann, and Kayla (Jeremy) Peak; daughter, Becky (Ivan) Christianson of Owatonna and their children: Jason (Jane) Christianson, Jamie (Kim) Christianson, and Denise (Rod) Gardner; 56 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Don Martinson of Red Wing; sister, Maxine Field of Mesa, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Betty Martinson of Emmons, Bernice Anderson of Blue Earth and Arlene Lindquist of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews.
Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Ellsworth, in 1981; her son, Lynn, in 1972; great-granddaughter, Samantha Forrest; her parents; her brother, LeRoy Martinson; sister, LouJean Hoiseth; sister-in-law, Blanche Martinson; and brothers-in-law: E. R. Anderson, James Lindquist, LaVerle Field and Bill Bartlett.
