Memorial services for Leland (Lee) Wadding will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Todd Walsh will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Glenville.
Leland (Lee) Wadding, 76, passed away on June 29, 2010, after a three-year battle with cancer surrounded by the love of his family.
Lee was born on a farm near Myrtle on Oct. 29, 1933, to Lloyd and Mabel (Kleven) Wadding, the oldest of three children. Lee was baptized and confirmed at Round Prairie Lutheran Church in Glenville. He attended elementary school in a country school in Glenville. Lee moved with his family to Albert Lea where he attended Albert Lea High School. At the age of 20, Lee began laying floors for Floorcrafters where he worked for the next 34 years. In 1987, Lee began laying floors independently until he was stricken with cancer in 2007. He was known around the area for his detailed work on the floor-laying jobs.
In 1959, Lee married Eileen Wendelboe at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. A son, Mitchell, was born from this union. On July 29, 1967, Lee married Constance (Connie) Boone at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. From this union, Shannon, Sherri, Sandi and Steven were born.
Lee enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren — teasing them to no end. He also enjoyed watching the Twins and Vikings and his trips “down south” to Diamond Jo.
Lee is grateful for all the care that was given to him by hospice. Marcie (hospice RN), hospice volunteers and his family who were there for him 24 hours a day for the last three months of his life.
Lee was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, past member of the Moose Club and AA.
Lee is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie; children and grandchildren: Mitch (Gina) Wadding, Alex, Sarena and Hannah of Albert Lea, Shannon (Deb Blood) Wadding, Morrighan and Trinity of St. Paul, Sherri (Mark) Stevens, Codey and Michael of St. Paul Park, Sandi (Tim) Lievrouw, Anthony of Albert Lea, Steven Wadding (Jen Mudra), Sean, Seth, Lydia, Cameron, Gerika and Izaak, Tara Yotter-Wadding all of Albert Lea; mother, Mabel Wadding, of Albert Lea; sisters: Beverly (Harold) Landsmann of Owatonna and Debbie (Dave) Skatter of Bloomington; mother-in-law, Beverly Boone, of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law: Annette (Dellan) Hagen of Albert Lea and Pat (Tom) Gilderhus of Spencer, Iowa; brother-in-law, Dennis (Rebecca) Boone of Albert Lea; and several nieces and nephews and cousins.
Lee was preceded in death by stepson, Charles; father, Lloyd; father-in-law, Chessle Boone; several aunts, uncles and grandnephew, David Kenis.
