Mildred Christianson, 99

Memorial services for Mildred (Peters) Christianson of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Freeborn Cemetery, Freeborn.
Mrs. Christianson died Sunday, July 4, 2010, at the Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea. She was 99 years of age.
Mildred was born Dec. 12, 1910, the daughter of Charles and Edith (Fisk) Peters. She graduated from Freeborn High School and the Albert Lea Business College. She was employed by the First State Bank in Freeborn for 12 years.
She was united in marriage to Ellis N. Christianson at her parents home in 1939. Together they lived in Vermillion, S.D., Pella, Iowa, and returned to Albert Lea in 1960, where Ellis was manager of Freeborn-Mower Electric Co-op. Mildred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and was active as a Sunday school teacher, member of the church choir, treasurer and president of the Westminster Association and treasurer of the Sheldon-Jackson Presbyterial.
Mildred was active in the Naeve Auxiliary, treasurer of the Naeve gift shop and volunteer receptionist, Meals on the Go driver, Civic Music Board member for nine years and a member of the Tuesday Literary Club for more than 30 years.
Mildred enjoyed reading, poetry, listening to good music and watching the night sky.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and sisters; and her husband, Ellis Christianson.
