Music recital held Aug. 15

Laura Groskreutz and Charles Stephens presented a music recital Aug. 15 at the Hidden Creek Suites, Albert Lea.

Groskreutz performed Bach and Vivaldi on violin; Beethoven and MacDowell on piano; and Scarlatti and William Cutter as vocal solos.

Stephens performed all vocal solos comprising of Weatherly’s “O Danny Boy,” an old English air “Come to me, Oh My Love,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” from the Broadway musical “Carousel”, “Sweet Little Jesus Boy” by MacGimsey and Irving Berlin’s, “God Bless America.”

Anna Dahl, 7, daughter of Brent Dahl and granddaughter of Faith Dahl Ryan, both of Albert Lea. Anna played a piano solo and duet at the Aug. 12 recital held at the First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Anna is a second year piano student studying with Sharon L. Astrup-Scott of Albert Lea. Anna is learning piano skills, music theory, rhythms, scales and music “dictionary.”

Flowers were exchanged between performers and teacher. Followed by a reception for all guests.

Goskreutz and Stephens are studying voice, piano and violin with local teacher and artist, Sharon L. Astrup-Scott.
