A.L. girls’ tennis drops 3 matches

The Albert Lea girls’ tennis team lost matches to Marshall and New Ulm Monday, and fell to Rochester John Marshall 4-0 at home Tuesday, in a match shortened due to rain.
Playing in a triangular in New Ulm, the Tigers (2-4) fell to Marshall (2-0) 5-2 and to New Ulm (1-3) 4-3.
Against Marshall, the Tigers got singles wins from No. 2 Ashley Gilbertson, who defeated Jenna Gannot 6-2, 4-6, 10-5 and No. 4 Karlee Anderson, who defeated Jessica Tubbs 6-4, 6-2.
Marshall swept Albert Lea in doubles, but the Tigers were most competitive at No. 1, where Alissa Allison and Megan Gilbertson were able to split sets but fell 10-3 in the super tiebreaker.
In a tight match against New Ulm, Albert Lea won all three doubles matches, but were swept in singles in the 4-3 loss.
At No. 3 singles, Albert Lea’s Chelsea Petersen lost a competitive match to Rachel Standmark, splitting sets 4-6, 6-1, but fell 9-11 in a tight super tiebreaker.
