Bear Lake mystery photo

Photo courtesy Eva (Wacholz) Johnsrud This photo was taken on Oct. 1, 1933, near Bear Lake, and shows what could be described as a walk-up bar or maybe lunch stand with beverages. A note on the original photo indicates it was taken on the opening day of hunting season. The only person who can be identified is Alfred Wacholz who is in the center holding the beverage case. The Wacholz home is reportedly on the right. Anyone with more information about this photo or a nearby dance hall called the Bowery should call the Freeborn County Historical Museum (373-8003) between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, and ask for Linda.
