First Lutheran Women

First Lutheran Church Women met Aug. 11 in Bethany Hall.
Prelude music was provided by Marilyn Chafee.
Co-president Jinni Olson welcomed everyone followed by the singing of the table prayer.
Devotions were given by Jinni Olson.
Everyone recited the purpose statement.
Jinni Olson introduced the special music by Deb Koenings accompanied by Marilyn Chafee. She sang “On Eagles Wings” and the Lord’s Prayer.
Jinni Olson introduced the program, Dennis Dieser from the Y. He spoke on the United Way instead of Ann Austin. He explained the United Way and the organizations that are supported. He handed out a brochure explaining the impact of United Way to our community.
Lorraine Bakken approved the secretary’s report and seconded by Nancy Jenson.
Beth Doyle gave the treasurer’s report.
Lois Jensen reported receiving the following newsletters:
- Global Health
- River Crossings
- Youth for Christ
Beth Doyle has purchased fabric to make about 200 bags for the school and health kits that will go on the Lutheran World Relief Van Oct. 9. Ellen Harrison has made the bags before, but she is not able to at this time. We need help to cut and sew, the material and instructions are available for pick up now.
Offering was taken during the singing of “Spirit of God.” Joy White gave the offering prayer.

Ushers: Helen Lovik and Arlis Smith.
Hostesses: Chairwoman Carol Colstrup and her committee: Marlene Behle, Shirley Brownlow, Judy Hoiseth and Jan Paske.
Caring & Sharing: Co-chairwomen Bonnie Schneider and Helene Westrum and their committee served three funerals in July.
Mission Study at Salem Lutheran Church is Friday. Lutheran World Relief Van is Oct. 9, from 7:30 a.m. to noon. World Community Day at United Methodist is Nov. 5.
