Albert Ohm, 88, Albert Lea

The funeral service of Albert H. Ohm of Albert Lea, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Interment will be in Concordia Lutheran Cemetery, Pickerel Lake. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea, and one hour before the service at the church.

Albert died on Tuesday morning, Sept. 21, 2010, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.

He was 88.

He was born on June 15, 1922, on the family farm in rural Alden, the son of Chris W. and Marie (Ficken) Ohm.

He attended Conger School District No. 140.

He lived and farmed on the home farm until 1966 when he moved to a farm nearby and continued farming until retiring in 1993.

He married Grace (Nicholson) Budlong on Feb. 6, 1971, at First Lutheran Church. He was baptized and confirmed at Concordia Lutheran Church, Pickerel Lake, and later became a member First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea.

In his later years he made his home at “Just Like Home Place,” he so appreciated all the special care he received there.

Albert was a hard worker, but always enjoyed a good game of cards and bingo.

Albert is survived by brother Harold Ohm and his wife Mary of rural Alden, sister Dorothy Krueger and her husband Nordean of rural Albert Lea, brothers-in-law Art Richter of Albert Lea and Harry Richter of rural Alden; nieces and nephews: Debra Ohm of Albert Lea, David Ohm of Austin, Mike (Lavonne) Krueger of rural Alden, Rick (Tammy) Krueger of rural Albert Lea, Sue (Mark) Horejsi of Albert Lea, Brent (Lori) Krueger of rural Albert Lea, Brenda (Doug) Herr of Albert Lea, Dennis Richter of rural Alden, Jane (LaVerne) Friedman of rural Albert Lea, Carolyn Vangen of Albert Lea, Gary (Stephanie) Richter of rural Glenville, Jim (Mary) Richter of Lake Mills, Iowa, Judy (Manny) Perez of Prior Lake, many nieces and nephews on wife Grace’s side including special nephew Truman Thrond and his wife Barb of Albert Lea, and many great-nieces, nephews and one great-great-nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Grace, his sisters Alma Richter and Marie Richter and a nephew, Dean Richter.

Albert will be fondly remembered for his kind, gentle manner and his willingness to express appreciation for everything that was given and done for him.
