Minnesota First District Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary’s meeting is in Lake City on Saturday hosted by Bernard Flesche VFW Post No. 8729 and its auxiliary. First District VFW Cmdr. Dewey Hermanson, of Cannon Falls, and First District VFW Ladies Auxiliary President Sonia Tatge, of Kenyon, will preside over the meetings.

Members will meet at the post home located at 115 N. Franklin St. with the Ladies Auxiliary members meeting at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 110 S. Oak St. both beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Auxiliary members will have schools of instruction on these programs: community service, legislative/PAC, membership and voice of democracy and patriot’s pen.

Auxiliary presidents, secretaries and treasurers as well as past department and district presidents will be honored at this meeting.

All First District VFW posts and auxiliaries are encouraged to be in attendance to receive this information.

The VFW district commander and president’s joint project is the fitness center project at the Hastings Veterans Home were they will raise funds for the needed exercise and rehabilitation equipment.
