He said Freeborn County Engineer Sue Miller and Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig are not advising travel, specifically in the western and northern parts of the county. If people come to a barricade, they should not attempt to go through.
A Highway Department news release said there are dangerous conditions with soft road surfaces. If rain continues, load restrictions may be imposed on saturated roads.
Kluever noted the Albert Lea National Guard Armory is not yet open for a shelter, but it may be a possibility.
A hotline number has been set up for residents to call as this storm event unfolds at 507-377-5229.
By calling this number, residents can ask questions and report problems.
