After suffering two straight defeats, the Lake Mills football team looked to get back to its winning ways Friday night as they hosted Ackley-Geneva-Wellsburg-Steamboat Rock.

The Bulldogs scored 14 points in the first quarter as they cruised past AGWSR 27-7.

Lake Mills used a balanced offensive attack as they gained 100 rushing yards and passed for 111 yards for a total of 211 totals yards.

The Bulldogs defense also forced two AGWSR turnover in the game.

Lake Mills got on the board right away in the first quarter as Bryan Hengesteg had a 24-yard run that put the Bulldogs ahead 7-0.

Later in the first quarter, it was the Lake Mills defense that added to the lead as linebacker Levi Dahle returned an interception 52 yards for a score to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-0.

The score remained the same until the fourth quarter.

Alex Grunhovd caught touchdown passes of 33 yards and 8 yards to give Lake Mills a 27-0 lead.

AGWSR got on the board late in the fourth when they got a 63-yard run to bring the score to 27-7.

Quaterback Royce Byrnes had an active night for the Bulldogs as he passed for 111 yards and two scores.

Tyler Rice led all ball carriers with 12 carries for 42 yards.

Alex Grunhovd led the Lake Mills receivers as he had three catches for 70 yards and two touchdowns.

With the win, Lake Mills improves to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the district.

The Bulldogs are home next Friday as they host Dike-New Hartford.
