Loren Baker, 85, Hartland

Funeral services for Loren W. Baker of Hartland, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church in Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the Hartland Cemetery.
Loren died Friday morning at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea. He was 85 years of age.
Loren was born Feb. 19, 1925, in Byron Township, Waseca County, the son of William and Cora (Hatch) Baker. He attended public school in New Richland. Loren served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1947. On June 7, 1953, he was united in marriage to Helen E. Klinger in New Richland.
Loren worked as a farm hand and then with Rilco Inc., before being employed by the Weyerhaeuser Co for over 30 years. He was a member of the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church and a resident of the Hartland and New Richland area all of his life.
In his free time, Loren enjoyed collecting liquor containers. Some of the best times of his life were spent with his family, especially the grandchildren.
Loren is survived by his wife Helen of Hartland, children; Diane Underwood (Harry Brandt) of Albert Lea, Mary and her husband Bill Bartholmey of Albert Lea, Laura and her husband George Fix of Columbia Heights. There are two grandchildren; Jennifer Bartholmey of Fairmont, and Aaron Bartholmey of Clarinda, Iowa. There is one sister; Lucille Kampen of New Richland, one brother; Everett (Mary) Baker of Modesto, Calif., and one sister in law; Lois Baker of Albert Lea.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters; Pearl Wise and Margaret (Oscar) Weber, brothers; Melvin, Ralph (Violet), Lloyd and Harold (Harriet), brother in law George Kampen and son in law Virgil Underwood.
