An 82-year-old Albert Lea man died from injuries he sustained after being struck by a car Friday at the pedestrian crossing in front of Lou Rich on Front Street, according to a St. Marys Hospital spokeswoman.
Roland Petersen was driving a motorized scooter just before 10:30 a.m. when he was hit.
Petersen was initially transported by ambulance to Albert Lea Medical Center for his injuries but was later flown by helicopter to Rochester, where he later died.
His autopsy was to be performed Saturday, the spokeswoman said.
According to Albert Lea Police Lt. Jeff Strom, Roland Petersen was driving a motorized scooter at the time of the incident just before 10 a.m. Friday.
Strom said 91-year-old Charlotte Sevaldson was driving eastbound in a 1998 Buick Park Avenue when she struck Petersen. Petersen was traveling north across the street at the crossing.
Sevaldson reportedly did not see the man, according to police.
