American Legion Post 56

To Albert Lea and the surrounding communities, the American Legion Post 56 family says thank you. The Legacy Run was very successful from our standpoint and from the Legion riders and national headquarters standpoint who said nothing like this has been done in the previous five years. National Commander Hill thought this was the greatest stop on the route and graciously accepted donations that evening in the amount of $31,000 with $2,500 coming from the local Legion posts, the Moose Lodge, Golden KI, Noon and Daybreakers Kiwanis, and many individuals. Hopefully you were able to attend and feel the excitement by everyone as the riders came and parked on Broadway but if not you can go to the website: www.americanlegionpost56.com and look at pictures taken by Jim and David Olson.

I would like to thank the many people welcoming the riders to Minnesota from the Alden, Glenville, Emmons, Hartland, Freeborn, Albert Lea Posts and Women Veterans of Freeborn County on the bridges; community and Boy Scouts lining Fountain St.; Grace Christian church for the use of the staging; Interstate Motor Trucks for pulling the trailer; Freeborn County Fairgrounds for use of tables; newspaper and radio for ads informing the community; city of Albert Lea for allowing the blocking off of streets and parking lot and use of the Marion Ross Performing Arts Center; the American Legion baseball team for cleanup; the Legion riders for making a stop in Albert Lea at Post 56; the many volunteers who helped set up, serve and clean up the area; the great hospitality of the local area; and again Post 56, Auxiliary and SAL members for their support. Everyone can be proud of a service well done and a donation to help with educating children of fallen soldiers.

Albert Lea Girls’ Soccer

The Albert Lea High School Girls’ Soccer Booster Club would like to thank the following businesses for their support of our recent Fill the Stands promotion. Fill the Stands is a promotion designed to expose more people to the girls’ soccer program. Spectators were given a free hotdog supper and then watched a very exciting soccer game against Rochester Mayo. It was very nice to see such a large turnout and community support for the team. This promotion was only possible with the very generous help from Cargill, Perkins, Kwik Trip, Korner Mart, Western Rental, Quiznos and Nelson’s Market Place.

Thank you again.
