WELLS — With a perfect record in tow, the United South Central girls’ tennis team looked to keep winning Monday as they hosted Waseca.
Waseca took two singles matches and swept the doubles action as the Blue Jays defeated the Rebels 5-2.
“I thought that the girls played well,” USC head coach Kim Stevermer said. “Waseca is rated fourth in the state and they proved it today.”
The only players to claim wins for USC were Ali Ramsley and Rachel Mattick.
“The singles girls played well and I was glad to see Rachel and Ali pull out the wins,” Stervermer said.
In doubles, the Bluejays swept through the Rebels as they won all three of the matches.
“Waseca has great doubles,” Stevermer said. “They are great at the net. So we will have to work on our quick returns.”
Even though the perfect record is gone, Stevermer said this provides some things for the Rebels to work on.
“We now know what we have to work on for our next meeting with Waseca.”
