LAKE ELMO (AP) — A small plane has crashed just north of the Lake Elmo airport.

Authorities got a call about the crash shortly after 4 p.m. Friday.

Washington County Sheriff Bill Hutton told reporters the pilot was the only person aboard when the single-engine kit-built plane crashed in a farm field. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where officials say he was in critical condition Friday night.

The pilot’s name has not been released.
