Brackey leads team in regional tourney win

LAKE MILLS, Iowa — The Lake Mills volleyball team hosted the Saint Ansgar Saints in the first-round of the Class 2A Regional volleyball tournament on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs overcame a slow start to defeat Saint Ansgar 25-23, 25-16 and 25-7 and earn the sweep over the Saints.

“It was a slow start by Lake Mills and a fast start by Saint Ansgar in the first set,” Lake Mills head coach Jim Boehmer said. “We never had the lead in the first set until 24-23. Saint Ansgar was ready. In set two and three we settled down and made some adjustments.”

Amanda Lampman had a team high 13 kills for the Bulldogs, while Josie Brackey recorded 10 kills and Shelby Kuper had six kills.

Lindy Pins and Brackey led Lake Mills in digs with nine a piece.

Morgan Fjelstad tallied 28 set assists for the Bulldogs.

Lake Mills also had a great night from the service line as they converted on 96 percent of their serves.

Lampman went 10-for-10 with three aces.

Brackey went 19-for-19 and Micah Peters went 10-for-10 for the Bulldogs.

Lake Mills is off until Tuesday when they host North Iowa Conference rival Forest City in the second-round of the Class 2A Regional tournament.
