During the many years I worked at the joint law enforcement center, I had the opportunity to observe the leadership, management and decision making style of both Mark Harig and Bob Kindler.
I know from experience that one of the most important aspects of being the leader of a law enforcement agency is utilization of department personnel — how you manage the people that work for you. Making job assignments and promotions are two components of that responsibility. My observations lead me to conclude that when making personnel decisions, the most important criteria for Mark Harig is friendship and unwavering, non critical support of his decisions. Whereas, I am certain that the primary consideration for Bob Kindler will be the individuals talents, competency and work ethic.
The ability to communicate effectively with your personnel is critically important. It requires much more than drafting and sending e-mail decrees. (Every employee deserves better than that.) Bob Kindler understands the importance face-to-face communications. He has the mature self confidence to encourage input, feedback and constructive criticism from employees and members of the community.
Not only does Bob Kindler possess the calm demeanor required in times of crisis, the manner in which he conducts himself on a daily basis has resulted in his co-workers being confident in his abilities.
Without doubt. Bob Kindler possess the depth of intellect and depth of character required to lead the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office. I will be voting for Bob Kindler for sheriff and encourage you to do likewise.
