The Albert Lea Port Authority will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday at the Albert Lea Business Development Center, 2610 Y.H. Hanson Ave., Albert Lea, beginning at 7:30 a.m.

TOPS

The TOPS MN 979, Albert Lea chapter is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the start of the chapter at an open house on Thursday at the Senior Center in the Skyline Mall. During the regular weekly meeting, which starts at 9:30 a.m., and prior to the weigh-in the group will honor past and current members. TOPS is part of an international nonprofit organization that provides support for those who want to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. TOPS stands for Take Off Pounds Sensibly. The 979 chapter has 10 KOPS who have achieved their goal and maintain their weight.

The open house theme is “Turn Over a New Leaf” and anyone who wishes to share their journey towards a healthier lifestyle is welcome to come. Any former members are invited to share in the memories of the 35 years. In order to help each other towards their goal, the chapter has contests, recognition of regular weight losses with showers (Fruit, Vegetable, Paper and Coin) and even monetary rewards along with feeling heathier. Members are encouraged to lower their calorie intake and increase their physical activity on this road to better health which coincides with the goals of the area Vitality Project.
