Riding a four-game win streak, the Albert Lea Tigers boys’ soccer team looked to even their season series against the Austin Packers Thursday at Hammer Field.

Both teams were scoreless until the 61 minute mark when Austin’s Francisco Torres scored the game’s only goal, and put the Packers up 1-0.

“It was a hard loss,” Albert Lea head coach Elia Romano said. “Because the boys played so hard. They played with a lot of emotion.”

The loss snapped the Tigers’ four-game winning streak, and held more weight because of the rivalry and homecoming week.

“As the game wore on, it got more and more chippy,” Romano said. “We didn’t keep our composure very well.”

The Tigers play their season finale Saturday at Rochester Century.
