Do we want a yard sign or a sheriff?

For nearly 30 years I have personally known Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig and his family. Over this period I have observed Mark’s law enforcement career development, having distinguished himself, working his way up through the ranks in most capacities of the Sheriff’s Office. Freeborn County citizens have given Mark their support as sheriff the past two elections over eight years. And once the yard signs are set away this fall, I am confident that Mark Harig will effectively continue to serve in this respected office.

I have never worked with Mark in a law enforcement field. I am not acquainted with his election challenger, deputy Bob Kindler. He may very well be a fine person and likewise a capable candidate. However, I do know Mark Harig, a lifelong resident of Freeborn County, who takes his oath of office to the public, county and state very seriously. The Mark Harig I know does not take his elected position for granted. As you may have noticed, Mark is not a flag-waver type, often working calmly yet professionally in and out of the office environment.

I believe he has earned the trust and confidence of Freeborn County citizens over his last two terms of office. Directing this county’s largest department, Mark has shown his leadership skills in keeping a watchful eye on personnel management, budgeting, coordinating with area officials, planning and preparedness, with safety of the county’s residents foremost.

As sheriff, Mark is accountable to the voters. If you have a question, concern, complaint, suggestion or heard a negative rumor, contact Mark Harig as you would any other of your elected officials. You will find him very accessible and your input will be highly valued.
