The following are some of the volunteer opportunities currently open in Freeborn County. If you can help with any of them or would like to volunteer for other things, call Beth Spande, Retired and Senior Volunteer Program director, at Senior Resources, 377-7433.
Festival of Trees: Do you enjoy decorating for Christmas? The Albert Lea Art Center needs volunteers to decorate trees for the Festival of Trees to be held Nov. 26 through Dec. 31. You choose your own theme and decorate a tree. Call Donna Widenhoefer at 373-8459. Gallery hosts will also be needed during the festival. Call Ruth at the Art Center at 373-5665.
Headstart: Reading stories to preschoolers at the Brookside Education Center is a special request for men who will read to the children. All readers will be most welcome! Classes are in session Monday through Thursday, late morning and early afternoon. Call and we can schedule a time that works for you. Come once or make it a habit.
Montessori School: Do you speak a language other than English? Come and share that language with the children a couple times a week. Call Louise Brady at 373-5204 for details.
RSVP, a program of Senior Resources of Freeborn County, receives some funding through the United Way of Freeborn County, the Minnesota Board on Aging and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
