Beverly Williams, 80, La Junta, Colo.

Beverly J. Williams, 80, of La Junta, Colo., passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010, at her La Junta home. Memorial services will be today at 1 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Ron Skorick of the First Christian Church officiating.

She was born to Chris and Bernadine (Holtz) Thompson on Aug. 22, 1930, in Bricelyn. She married Marvin D. Williams on Nov. 25, 1950, in Albert Lea.

Beverly and Marvin co-owned and operated the Capri Motel and Restaurant from 1973 to 1981. She also worked at the Log Cabin in Swink for many years and the Hanagans Farm Market. She was the past president of the Does Club. Beverly was a member of the Red Hats, and she volunteered at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. She won the “Sunshine Award” in 2005. Beverly enjoyed playing dominoes, bingo, and the slot machines. She was known as the Canning Queen and Pickle Lady.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra Sue Harrington of Smyrna, Tenn.; sons: Dave (Karen) Williams of Swink, Colo., and Dean Williams of Tempe, Ariz.; grandchildren: Stacy (Jerri) Harrell of Murfreesburo, Tenn., Jeremy (Tammy) Harrell of Mt. Eagle, Tenn., Cord Williams of Swink, Colo., and Ashley Williams of La Junta, Colo.; great-grandchildren: Savanah and Braxton Harrell of Murfreesburo, Tenn., and Destiny, Zachary and Aaliyah of Mt. Eagle, Tenn.; sister, Terry (Elmer) Kobbermann of Alexandria.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin D. Williams, on Dec. 17, 2006; brother, Marlin Thompson; and sister, Verlie Harrison.
