First Lutheran Church Women

First Lutheran Church Women met at 1:15 p.m. in Bethany Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 10. Prelude music was provided by Joan Holt. Co-President Jinni Olson welcomed everyone.

Marlene Behle introduced the program which was “Our Veterans are Heroes” by Freeborn County veterans with spokesman Arnie Mulso. The Honor Guard showed us how the flag is folded and answered any questions that anyone had.

Behle introduced Larry Tonder who sang a few hymns appropriate to Veterans Day. Olson conducted the business meeting as follows:

The secretary’s report was approved as printed by Joy White and Nancy Jenson. The report will be placed on file.

The treasurer’s report was given by Beth Doyle. The report will be placed on file for audit.

Lois Jensen had nothing for the correspondence report except brochures from River Crossings, Youth for Christ and Global. The brochures will be placed in the library.

No committee reports.

The list of new officers has been handed out and the Unit Board for approval. A motion was made by Neva Mathison and Virginia Hermanson to approve the list as presented. The motion carried.

Jan Overgaard announced that Friends at First met for the Thanksgiving meal on Tuesday, Nov. 16.

New Business: Holidays Ahead. Bonnie Schneider announced that items for the consignment shops can be brought in Nov. 10 through 17 and should be placed behind the stage in Bethany Hall.

Gen Montei read the Litany Prayer and the thank offering was presented.

Hymn LBW No. 409 “Praise and Thanksgiving” was sung by everyone.

Offering bskets were passed by Isy Lee and Geraldine Sauke.

Offering prayer was given by Jane Loge.

Caring and Sharing: Co-chairwomen Behle and Jensen and their committee served two funerals in October.

Announcements:

Sunday, Dec. 5 — John Rutter & Friends Christmas Cantata at 7 p.m.

The Table Prayer was sung by everyone.

The meeting closed with the Lord’s Prayer and lunch was served.
