Freeborn County District Court Judge John A. Chesterman on Monday sentenced a 23-year-old Nebraska man to probation and community service for his involvement in a cocaine sale in April to a task force informant.
According to court records, Angel Catarino Plascenia will be on probation for up to five years and will serve 40 hours community service for one count of fifth-degree drug possession.
Plascenia pleaded guilty to the charge in August as part of a plea agreement. He was initially charged with aiding and abetting a drug sale.
According to his sentence, Plascenia has been convicted of a felony; however, if he follows his probation without any violations, his conviction will be converted to a gross misdemeanor.
Plascenia’s conditions of probation include no possession or use of alcohol or mood-altering drugs, staying out of bars and liquor stores, being subject to random testing, maintaining full-time employment and not possessing any weapons.
According to court documents, Plascenia was arrested with Pedro Cabrera Guiterrez, also of Nebraska, on April 1 after a South Central Drug Task Force informant made arrangements to purchase six ounces of cocaine for $6,700 in the Trails Travel Center parking lot, 820 Happy Trails Lane, Albert Lea.
The men were in Albert Lea to deliver the cocaine.
