Tigers rally falls short in OT

New Prague’s Lindsay Paschke scored a game-winning power play goal in overtime Thursday to lift the New Prague Trojans girls’ hockey team past Albert Lea 3-2 in New Prague.
“We played great tonight,” Albert Lea head coach Paul Willett said. “We have gotten better everyday and we will continue to improve.”
The Tigers found themselves down early when Kendra Collier scored for New Prague to give the Trojans an early 1-0 lead.
New Prague found the back of the net in the second period when Hallie Paschke tallied a goal to push New Prague’s lead to 2-0 after the second period.
In the third period, it was all Albert Lea.
Natasha Moyer scored two goals to tie the game 2-2 and send the game into overtime.
“Natasha had a very nice game for us,” Willett said. “She played very well on both ends of the ice for us.”
With the game tied, the teams went to overtime where Paschke netted the game-winner for New Prague.
Sidney Conley took the loss for Albert Lea as she faced 29 shots and made 22 saves on the night.
“She played well tonight,” Willett said of Conley. “She made some nice saves.”
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday as they travel to Faribault to take on the Falcons.
