A redesigned print edition of the Albert Lea Tribune will hit doorsteps this week, most likely on Wednesday.

“It was time,” said Tribune Publisher Scott Schmeltzer. “The paper had its last design revision almost five years ago.”

That was when Tribune Managing Editor Tim Engstrom was new to Albert Lea. Engstrom has been tinkering with the look of the paper in past weeks, getting it ready for the printing press. He also changed some of its regular content, aiming for reader-friendliness.

“People are going to see a bolder, more contemporary look, centered headlines, and they are going to see handy items, such as a daily events calendar and a list of which stories online readers like best,” Engstrom said. “We hope people like it.”
