Winnie Yocom

Winnie Yocom, 101, of Rochester, formerly of Albert Lea, died at Samaritan Bethany Heights Care Center in Rochester on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010. Winnie had moved to Rochester five years ago to be near her grandson Larry Yocom and his wife, Jan.

She was born on Feb. 1, 1909, in Canby, the oldest of the 13 children of Jefferson and Maddie Riley.

She married George Yocom in 1926. They raised two sons, Ernest and Richard, in the Albert Lea area. Son Richard survives. She also has six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George, and her son, Ernest.

Private graveside services will be held at Graceland Cemetery as well as Memorial Services in Hudson, Wis., at a later date.
