13 car crashes

Local law enforcement officials responded to 13 car crashes around Albert Lea and Freeborn County this weekend.

Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic crash at 7:55 p.m. Friday at Interstate 35 a mile south of Clarks Grove. No injuries were reported.

Sheriff’s deputies also responded to a car crash at 11:19 p.m. Friday on County Road 46 at the I-35 underpass — Exit 11. A pickup hit the guardrail. No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed but driveable.

Another car crash was reported on County Road 46 at 707th Avenue at 6:51 a.m. Saturday. According to sheriff’s reports, the vehicle was towed and no injuries occurred. Another traffic crash with no injuries was reported at 12:55 p.m. Saturday at 660th Ave. and 220th St., Alden. No other vehicles were reportedly involved.

Deputies responded to another traffic crash with no injuries, as a car slid into a ditch, at 6:28 p.m. Sunday on Hammer Road near Tiger Hills.

Albert Lea police responded to traffic crashes at the intersection of St. Peter Avenue and Southeast Marshall Street on Saturday morning and another at 11:53 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of East Main Street and Morningside Road. No injuries were reported in either incident.

A vehicle slid off the road at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and East Clark Street at 11:53 a.m. Saturday. According to Albert Lea police, no injuries were reported.

Additional traffic crashes with no injuries were reported by Albert Lea police along U.S. Highway 65 and Sorenson Road at 1:02 p.m. Saturday and at the intersection of East Main Street and Prospect Avenue Saturday at 1:11 p.m.

A car reportedly slid into a light pole at 6:36 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Bridge Avenue and Marshall Street. According to police reports, there were no injuries.

A hit-and-run crash was reported to Albert Lea police at 701 Lake Chapeau Drive at 12:46 p.m. Sunday. Police reports state that a green 2006 Mazda was hit by another vehicle.

Police responded to another traffic crash with no injuries at the intersection of West Front Street and Maplehill Drive at 5:54 p.m. Sunday.

Departments respond to car fire

The Albert Lea Township Fire Department and Freeborn County sheriff’s deputies responded to a fire call at 8:31 a.m. Friday. According to sheriff’s reports, smoke was coming from the hood of a car at 73505 225th St., Albert Lea, and the county shop sanded the area.

Car stolen

A red 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was reported stolen Friday at 5:48 p.m. from the Sears parking lot. According to Albert Lea police reports, someone had returned from lunch at 3 p.m. and returned to work, leaving the keys in the car. The reporting party got off work, and the car was gone.

Property damage reported

Criminal property damage was reported at 7:49 a.m. Friday at the Lair’s 66 station in Emmons. According to Freeborn County sheriff’s reports, a window was broken out but no entry was gained.

Lost property reported

Lost property was reported to Albert Lea police Friday at 2:50 p.m. at Bridge Avenue and Sykes Street. It was reported that a Dewalt drill and driver all in one case fell out of a truck in the area. According to police reports, the property is valued at $300.

Man cited for DWI

Danny Mark Battles, 45, was cited for 4th degree DWI by Albert Lea police during a traffic stop at Eberhart Street and St. Thomas Avenue.
