A.L./N-R bowlers finish 7th at state

The Albert Lea/New -Richland bowling team finished in seventh place at the Minnesota State Bowling Tournament.
Twenty-four of the best high school teams compete for the title at Midway Bowl in St. Paul.
After the 10-game qualifier, the local team was in third place with an average of 203 per game and eight teams were sent home leaving 16 to compete the best-of-three match play.
In the four matches of baker scoring system against North St. Paul, Hopkins, Worthington and Superior, the team was sent home after two losses.
The team averaged 203.95 for 24 games in the tournament.
Superior won the tournament beating out second place Owatonna.
The team was made up of senior Colby Fjeldberg, senior Jon Walstrom, sophomores Tyler Espe, Tyler Enderson, Derek Burkard, Cody Olson, freshman Christian Roche and eight-grader Chris Enderson. Coaches were Todd Fjeldberg, Carilee Squires and Dave Squires wish to congratulate the team for a very successful year of bowling as they finished as the league champions, conference tournament champions and seventh place at the state tournament.
