Congratulations to Mark Dayton

Congratulations to Minnesota DFL Gov. Mark Dayton. Congratulations to DFL Secretary of State Mark Richie for directing a transparent and honest recount for a second time. Our new governor was tutored in the Minnesota Governor’s Office by former DFL Governor Rudy Perpich. I believe we can expect a return of Minnesota wisdom to the office of our highest state executive.

Recently, the Tribune endorsed the GOP winner of the District 27A election concluding that our new state representative will reach across the aisle, in opposition to his GOP caucus, and compromise with our newly elected DFL governor. That assessment was probably naivete from a political standpoint. There is always the possibility that my opinion is wrong, that the Tribune was correct and our new GOP state representative will compromise on fair tax standards for high-income Minnesotans as one way to address, in part, the over $6 billion deficit left by current GOP Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
